Installation
The download comes in the form of an NSIS installer (nullsoft.com) , once your download is complete double click the phpdev423.exe, this will open the installer and ask you where you wish to install phpdev to, the very best bet is c:/phpdev , though anywhere should work (no promises for directories with a space in the name (i.e. Program Files etc)) unlike phpdev4 DONT install directly to c:/ or d:/ etc as it will get messy.
Once the installer has unpacked phpdev a php install script should run and you will see a DOS window hopefully saying something like phpdev installed blah... if you get an error message then check that you do not have Apache or MySQL or anyPHP application running, then double click (eg) c:\phpdev\setup.bat and hopefully phpdev will configure itself this time around
Then in your start menu you should have a phpdev program group, select the phpdev_start link that suits your OS (phpdev_98_ME for win98 etc & phpdev_2K_NT_XP for all NT versions) , a few windows will popup , check for any reported errors, if there are none then go to http://localhost/ in your favourite browser and follow the start_here.htm link and errrr start there !
Netscape users Please use the 'get phpdev updates' link in the bottom frame , NOT the form below ,using the form below sends me nothing and takes you nowhere - still trying to figure this one out, but please register for updates.
